There’s a whole lot going on with Amy Schumer right now. In the wake of three allegations of joke theft and an on-air and online dismissal of the accusations by Schumer herself, new allegations have emerged.
The previous allegations from comedians, Wendy Liebman, Kathleen Madigan and Tammy Pescatelli, have all been neatly dropped, deleted and dismissed with tweets of support for Schumer. This is even after all-too-concidiental video evidence showed the parallels between jokes told by the comedians years, even decades before Schumer told eerily similar jokes.
The newest allegations come from Youtuber, Joseph Tran, creator of the fantastic Reasons Not To Date A Magician–a web series that’s gone widely unnoticed while Schumer schedules more tour dates, more interviews, more seasons and more photo-ops with Jennifer Lawrence.
It’s the perfect crime, rip off great jokes from a show people aren’t really watching and make money off them as their own. The writers won’t say anything, they’ll just feel lucky to have you use their ideas anyway.
Except that’s not what Tran did. In 2014, Tran first called out Schumer’s Comedy Central, Inside Amy Schumer, for the blatant joke stealing and we didn’t talk about it. Now it’s convenient so we will.
