U.K academic Kate Lister started a Twitter last October called “Whores Of Yore” that’s dedicated to historical sex work. Since then, over 6,000 followers began following it.
The account is described as:
‘A catalogue of jilts, cracks, prostitutes, night-walkers, whores, she-friends, kind women, and others of the linnen-lifting tribe.’
Lister curates a fascinating collection of facts, pictures, historical records, and even comments from modern day sex workers. It runs the full range of funny to strange to gross as hell. This account is as big with the academic community as it is with the community of people still makin’ that money by taking part in the world’s oldest profession. Check out some of the best of Whores Of Yore.
When I said they go old school, I wasn’t joking. Check out this Medieval woman taking the ride of her life [Ed. note: slightly NSFW photos follow],

They also know how to keep it classy.

The account even shares stuff you’d never really think about having a long and hard history, but is weirdly fascinating.
