If you’re currently alive and have an internet connection, you know that pop singer Kesha is currently suing her producer, Dr Luke (aka Lukasz Gottwald), after an alleged 2006 date rape of the singer. However… that’s only been Kesha’s public story since late 2014.
When Kesha’s mother, Pebe Sebert, brought news of the rape to court sometime in 2011, Kesha was deposed under oath to testify to those claims. On a videotape of the deposition obtained by TMZ, Kesha is clearly asked if she had ever had sexual relations or experienced inappropriate advances from Gottwald. The singer, seemingly by her own volition, denies all allegations made by her mother. This denial under oath is completely contrary to her current lawsuit, yes? It should be thrown out, yes? Kesha’s a liar and we can all go home now, yes?
Not so fast. On behalf of his client, Kesha’s attorney Mark Geragos asserts that Kesha only remained silent and perjured herself under oath because of threats coming from Gottwald. Via court documents:
Dr. Luke repeatedly threatened that if she ever told anyone about these abusive incidents, he would destroy both Ms. Sebert … He threatened that if she ever mentioned the rape to anyone, he would shut her career down, take away all her publishing and recording rights…
Seems to be precisely what he’s doing now.
*double facepalms* Could you be anymore gender biased…? This is video evidence that one human being used rape accusations to strong-arm another human… which you’d notice if you weren’t writing from the position of men vs women.
