Harrison Ford Tears Up After Revealing Daughter’s Battle With Epilepsy

In an interview with the New York Daily News, Harrison Ford revealed that his daughter suffers from epilepsy. Ford spoke with the paper at the NYU Langone Medical Center’s Find a Cure for Epilepsy and Seizure (FACES) event, praising his daughter, Georgia Ford.

“I admire a lot of things about her. I admire her perseverance, her talent, her strength. She’s my hero. I love her.”

Ford attended the event with his daughter and his ex-wife, Melissa Mathison.

“When you have a loved one who suffers from this disease, it can be devastating. You know how it affects their lives, their future, their opportunities and you want desperately to find mitigation. You want to find a way that they can live a comfortable and effective life.”

Ford spoke of her road to diagnosis, the frustration of struggling to come to grips with it, and learning that there is no known cure. However, since finding the right medication, Georgia has not had a seizure in eight years. He hopes that more public conversations about the disease will raise awareness and lead to a cure.
