Of course, a Kardashian-Jenner can’t even sell lipsticks without making it some kind of scandalicious circus.
After Kylie Jenner took to twitter to apologize for her website exposing customer information to incorrect customers, s**t only got worse. And if you thought the fact that her site got its wires so crossed that it was logging customers into incorrect accounts and letting them in on other people’s personal info wasn’t enough, workers in her factory have come out with complaints that stuff in the lipsticks made them sick.
According to RadarOnline.com, the factory has been called a sweatshop and was cited by the FDA. Workers at the Spatz factory in Oxnard, California have published a slew of complaints on Indeed.com. These run the full range of:
“A lot of employees, not enough space.”
To:
“The pay is very minimal for the amount of work that is requested with no benefits … work environment very uncomfortable.”
To even:
“Was only provided with lab coat, hair net and safety glasses. No benefits…The makeup particles made me cough and sick.”
Of course, the CEO of Spatz Laboratories, Mary Beth Siddons, has come out saying that all the workers are lying. She had this to say.
“Spatz Laboratories proactively works to provide a healthy and safe working environment for our employees. We have implemented a number of initiatives to insure compliance to not only the law, but the standards set forth by cosmetic good manufacturing guidelines.
“These types of initiatives include but are not limited to safety committees and regularly conducted third party audits. As the business grows we make the proper improvements to support that growth because the health and wellness of our employees is a main priority.”
It would save Spatz money to torture people, so I pretty much believe none of that.
An official statement by Spatz trying to dispel the rumors read, in part:
Spatz Laboratories has over 60 years of experience in manufacturing and has always maintained the highest level of standards according to United States labor laws.
We are an American company operating by American standards and in accordance with (cosmetic Good Manufacturing Processes).
Spatz has no previous record of any issues with government compliance or the Department of Labor.
I 0% trust Spatz. Or the Kardashian-Jenners. Or just rich people. None of them.
