Jared Leto Created His Joker Laugh Mostly By Freaking Out Strangers

Of course. What else would you expect from Jared Leto?

On the one hand, I’m down for anything that makes strangers uncomfortable. On the other hand, I’m tired of hearing about how Jared Leto’s Joker is gonna make me cum in my pants. Suicide Squad isn’t even getting as much hype as Leto’s supposedly brilliant performance is, and I am past the point of passive aggressively wanting it to flop like an old fat dog on a hot summer day.

Anyway, Leto was recently on CNBC’s Squawk Box and confessed that he created the Joker’s laugh by wandering around the streets of NYC and Toronto cackling and seeing which particular cackle unnerved people the most.

“I worked on the laugh walking around the streets of New York and Toronto, and I kinda would walk around the streets and see what laughs would get under people’s skin.”

“You know when you hear someone laugh at a restaurant? It’s a little jarring. I tried them out. And I kind of got to a place where I would laugh and people are always turning around like, ‘Who is this creepy guy behind me?’”

Which is a cool fucking idea, tbh.

Check out the clip of Jared talking about his laugh-ventures below.
