Kristen Bell Opens Up About Dealing With Depression and Anxiety

On an interview on Off Camera with director Sam Jones, Kristen Bell got real about her almost lifelong struggle with mental illness. Both anxiety and depression run in her family. She told Jones:

“I’m extremely co-dependent. I shatter a little bit when I think people don’t like me. That’s part of why I lead with kindness and I compensate by being very bubbly all the time because it really hurts my feelings when I know I’m not liked. And I know that’s not very healthy and I fight it all the time.”

Many of the women in her family have lived with mental illness, and she even watched her own grandmother lock herself in her bedroom and binge drink. Fortunately, Kristen’s mother had some advice for her.

“[My mom’s] a nurse and she had the wherewithal to recognize that in herself when she was feeling it and when I was 18 said, ‘If you start to feel like you are twisting things around you, and you feel like there is no sunlight around you, and you are paralyzed with fear, this is what it is and here’s how you can help yourself.”

She said that being a mom has made her feel more confident about giving advice. Bell goes on to say that despite the stigma surrounding mental health and taking medications for it, she is not ashamed and no one should ever be ashamed of taking medication for anxiety or depression, because it’s almost like they’re real medical conditions or something.

“If you do decide to go on a prescription to help yourself, understand that the world wants to shame you for that, but in the medical community, you would never deny a diabetic his insulin. Ever. But for some reason, when someone needs a serotonin inhibitor, they’re immediately crazy or something.”

When depression stops you from residing your life, in the way you want to, then it’s a problem. So, as an example, you actually want to make dinner for yourself, however you’ve been lying in bed all time, and can’t get up the energy making it.

However, a friend of mine read an e-book about depression and it really helps. There are many advantages that come with the program and you can turn your life healthy and happy by reading the e-book. A lot of good information here.. depressiontreatmentnow.site
