‘Archer’ Producers Want Jon Hamm for Possible Live Action Feature Film

Jon Hamm has been pretty quiet since Mad Men went off the air. He’s done some killer cameos and may have been the best part of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, but I think it’s time we get some more out of this guy. He’s on the older side, he doesn’t have as many years left in him compared to younger actors. Let’s cast him over and over and over again and ring him dry. I think we’ll be pleased with the result.

And the universe apparently agrees with me because Archer producers are looking to make a live-action feature film with Jon Hamm. Daily Beast writer Marlow Stern sat down with the series’ producers Matt Thompson and Casey Willis. Thompson divulged:

It’s Jon Hamm. If Archer goes live-action, I do believe it will be Jon Hamm. Maybe you could do it with Jon Benjamin’s voice coming out of him? I don’t know. Adam is always like, ‘I don’t know if I want the movie to be live-action because I want it to be Jon Benjamin!’ But if it is live-action—and if it is not Jon Benjamin—it is our greatest hope that it would be Jon Hamm. I can say that with confidence.

No one knows quite when a movie will happen. The 7th season of Archer just ended and it has yet to be renewed.

I think we talk about it once every two years. We vacillate between if you do it, why are you doing the TV show? And should it be live-action, or should it be cartoon? The talk is there, we just still haven’t decided. I don’t think there will be a movie before the last episode of Archer airs on TV. I don’t think we’ll make a movie before the series finishes.

If it doesn’t get renewed, we can probably expect a movie and/or a Netflix revival. But that’s all speculation. Jon Hamm is the quintessential live action Archer. It can go no other way.
