‘The Voice’ Contestant Christina Grimmie Was Shot and Killed Yesterday

22-year-old Christina Grimmie, former contestant on The Voice, was shot and killed after a concert in Florida on Friday. Grimmie was signing autographs with members of the band Before You Exit after a show at Orlando’s Plaza Live Theater. At around 10:45, a 21-year-old psychotic fan who had traveled to her concert, shot Grimmie. Grimmie’s brother tackled the man but a short while later, the man killed himself.

Reports say the fan showed up at the concert with 2 handguns, 2 loaded magazines and a large hunting knife. Apparently there were no metal detectors or pat downs at the venue. There seems to be no connection between the man and Grimmie. The shooter traveled to Orlando and seemingly had plans to travel back.

Grimmie was rushed to the hospital where she was in critical condition. She didn’t make it and died later on during the night. A statement from her rep confirmed her death.

“It is with a heavy heart that we can confirm that Christina has passed and went home to be with the Lord. She was shot at her show in Orlando and, unfortunately, didn’t survive the gun shot wounds. We ask at this time that you respect the privacy of her family and friends in their time of mourning. If you’d like to give back to Christina’s family in her memory, please consider donating to the families GoFundMe page in their time of need.”

Friends and fans were shocked.
