Nipple piercings are awesome. Except when it gets infected so badly that doctors have to cut a hole in your breast to drain an inordinate amount of puss out. Just ask Brittany Suleiman.
I was in the hospital because my nipple piercing got infected to the point where it created an abscess in my breast.
Suleiman, an Instagram celebrity, posted about how she had to go to the hospital two times for her infected nipple piercing before they were forced to cut her tit open on the third visit. She described the whole ordeal on Instagram and it sounds absolutely awful.
I first noticed redness and swelling around the piercing, so I went to a dermatologist who said that it was probably just a reaction to the metal, but he gave me some antibiotics anyway.
As you probably figured out, this was just the beginning.
After another week, it got much worse and my breast hardened and I felt a big lump, so I went to the ER. They told me I had an abscess and put me on an IV and another course of a different antibiotic to try and kill the infection. I felt so ill and exhausted for weeks. That didn’t work and two days later it felt so much worse.
I’m a dude and I’m even cradling my nipples. Feels good.
The pain was soo bad. So I went back to the ER and they drained abscess via a (giant) needle, but they couldn’t get the rest out. After I was discharged, it got even worse and I went back. They transferred me to a breast surgeon, and I got it drained again. Didn’t help. after another week I found myself in the operating room getting my breast cut open to drain over 140 cc’s of pus out of my breast.
Did it hurt?
I’m not kidding you guys, I have been told by many doctors that I have a really high pain tolerance, but this felt like a 15/10. 😖😱 so after four visits to the ER and three days in a hospital bed, I was finally discharged and on put on a set of antibiotics. again.
But what about her breast? Is it… ok?
Under all the gauze looks like a chunk of my breast is missing, and it’s stuffed with gauze. Which has to be pulled out, and re stuffed every single day until it heals fully on its own to prevent the infection from reoccurring. So please please please, piercings are not a joke. I know it’s a trend and they look really cool, but consider that this stuff DOES happen, and you can get seriously hurt. So yeah, that’s where I’ve been, and yes, I have definitely learned my lesson!
Nooooo! And if any of you think it’s because she keep her piercing clean.
ps. I cleaned my piercings twice a day, everyday.
Aw, poor breast. I feel so bad for it that I just want to cradle it and kiss it telling it everything will be alright. In a totally non-sexual way of course.
