Cops Walked Off the Job at a WNBA Game Because Players Wore #BlackLivesMatter Shirts

They should be fired for not doing their fucking jobs.

I don’t understand why “Police shouldn’t be able to kill people without consequences” is such a controversial thing to say. What the f**k is wrong with people? Do you want the kind of people that think “not being able to murder people at will” cramps their style getting paid to police you?

From Uproxx:

In wake of the Philando Castile and Alton Sterling killings at the hands of police last week, there have been “Black Lives Matter” protests all across the country. Tensions between the black community and law enforcement are arguably at the highest they’ve been in a handful of years, especially considering the ambush-style shooting at a Dallas protest that left five cops dead following the Castile and Sterling incidents.

Literally. The tension is so thick in this country right now that not even Pokemon Go can cut it.

On Monday night, members of the WNBA’s Minnesota Lynx addressed those tensions and called for an end to racial profiling. As a result, police officers assigned to work the team’s game quit on the spot.

Four off-duty Minneapolis police officers working the Minnesota Lynx game at Target Center on Saturday night walked off the job after the players held a news conference denouncing racial profiling, then wore Black Lives Matter pregame warm-up jerseys.

Lt. Bob Kroll, president of the Minneapolis Police Federation, the union that represents rank-and-file officers, praised them for quitting. “I commend them for it,” he said.

“You telling us we should be accountable for walking around like we are in a game of Grand Theft Auto and not professionals on the job offends us.”

Lt. Bob Kroll can eat my ass.

Lynx forward Rebekkah Brunson stated that the team was “wearing shirts to honor and mourn the loss of precious American citizens and to plead change for all of us.” Despite the fact that the players also honored the officers lost in Dallas and called it a “senseless ambush,” the Minnesota PD officers were not happy about the message Lynx players were trying to send regarding law enforcement.

Of course, donut boy and his happy band of racists weren’t cool with anyone so much suggesting that armed professionals that took an oath to serve killing unarmed black civilians left and right isn’t cool.

Police sign up for off-duty jobs to work Lynx games, Kroll said. “They can start or stop a job whenever they want,” he said. “They are working on an independent contract.”

Asked about a report that seven or eight officers had walked off the job, Kroll said, “They only have four officers working the event because the Lynx have such a pathetic draw.”

What a shady and racist bitch.

Yes there have been many incidents of police violence against minority’s but to say that this group of officers isn’t allowed to protest well that’s just hypocritical. If you think you can police better than the next citizen why haven’t you applied to the take up the badge or at least go on a ride along or community policing program. It’s not easy and these officers are making life and death decisions that now have national repercussions and yet they’re just human. It’s fine to demand change and improvement but this tone doesn’t help anyone.

Especially when this group of police were not on duty, but were off duty independent contractors. So they could do what they want.

And let’s not pretend that BLM hasn’t turned into an anti-police organization. It has. The leaders of the group have lost control of their message. Quite honestly, I am not sure anyone really knows what their message is anymore, other than outrage at police, America, white people, America and more police. And they have yet to state a goal or solution–again part of the problem. They really need to find a cohesive message.
