There’s a reason I carry no less than 40 dollars cash in my wallet at all times (rob me) and have an issue with change hoarding in my now 3-pound wallet. I’m terrified of my card being declined. If for whatever reason I’m buying something that costs more than the amount of cash I have in my wallet, I’m standing in line with my hand in my purse fiddling with my Xanax script just in case I descend into full blown panic. And you know? My card has ever only been declined twice.
So here I am getting secondhand humiliation by the tale of Adele (yes, the singer worth $32 million) getting her card declined at a San Jose H&M on Sunday.
“I went to H&M and my card got declined. Oh my days, pretty embarrassing. Nobody knew it was me, but I was mortified.”
How does this even happen?! Why hasn’t technology caught up? Why would I ever want to be the woman in line with $500 worth of stuff but only $150 in cash when my card gets declined? How do I explain to everyone in line behind me that I am a responsible shopper?! I’m an adult with funds! I’m sorry for holding up the line, I’m just gonna head to the ATM really quick.
