Donald Trump Might Have to Worry About a New Kind of Alien This Election Cycle

I need to know there’s something in this universe besides me. I’m self-centered because I’m the only thing worth paying attention to that we currently know about. But now, an international team of scientists from the Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence (SETI) may have just found what I needed.

I accepted a long time ago that there had to be extraterrestrial life somewhere and the probability has always pointed to them being more advanced than Earth’s most interesting subject, so what I’m saying here is I’m poised for a new obsession 95 light years away.

What I’m reading I’m not quite sure I understand, but the Observer does a little better:

An international team of scientists from the Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence (SETI) is investigating mysterious signal spikes emitting from a 6.3-billion-year-old star in the constellation Hercules—95 light years away from Earth. The implications are extraordinary and point to the possibility of a civilization far more advanced than our own.

HD164595 is supposedly very much like our sun and already Earthlings have determined at least one planet to be in its orbit. (Space is cool but I’m about to have a panic attack.) Because of the strength of this signal and the theory that beings in the region of HD164595 could have aimed the signal directly for our galaxy, SETI has determined that permanent monitoring is needed.

I’m gonna tap out now. Science was never my favorite. Wide open spaces give me agoraphobia. I will report back only after it’s been confirmed that these life forms have intentions to mercy kill all of us.
