Johnny Depp and Tim Burton need to be forcibly separated so they stop jerking each other off for a second.
While Gene Wilder didn’t put it so bluntly, because he was a classy older gentleman of taste and not a gross sarcastic piece of s**t that makes a living writing about dicks on the internet, you can tell that he pretty much agreed with me.
In a 2013 interview with TCM’s Robert Osborne, he had this to say about Johnny Depp and Tim Burton‘s chocolate factory-sized f**k up that was their take on the classic tale.
“I think it’s an insult. Johnny Depp, I think, is a good actor, but I don’t care for that director. He’s a talented man, but I don’t care for him doing stuff like he did.”
Read between the lines and you will see that he agreed with me 100%.
Check out the interview below.
Depp’s Wonka was critically and commercially successful so whatever.
Still doesn’t make it good, but everyone has opinions; some aren’t as shitty as yours though.
Depp’s Wonka was so creepy and came off a bit like a pedophile. Willy Billy- it was a success because people have an affection for the story but it was so flat and humorless. The first was subversive but absolutely charming. Look, some will like one, some the other but I’m with Wilder on this. He left a great legacy.
The Gene Wilder Willy Wonka definitely turned me on to acid.
So that’s something.
