‘Heathers’ Will Get a Television Remake

I’m not old enough to have known Heathers in its 1980s prime, but I am just old enough to have spent at least a dozen middle school sleepovers cooing on it with my self-destructive girl squad. I’ve shown it to my sisters. I’ve shown it to my sisters’ friends. I’ve spent the last 15 years making sure everyone in my life is as familiar and as obsessed as I am.

But now it looks like my job could be done. I’m afraid of remakes, but it could be time. Dazed reports that the black comedy will take to the tv screen in an anthology series. Not too much is known about how the cult classic will be adapted to television, but what we do know is that the characters are getting makeover for 2016. Jezebel reports:

Heather McNamara (originally played by Lisanne Falk) is a black lesbian, whereas Heather Duke (originally Shannen Doherty) is a gender-queer high schooler and Heather Chandler (Kim Walker) has a body like Martha Dumptruck.

No word on casting for Winona Ryder’s Veronica or Christian Slater’s J.D., but with Sleeping With Other People‘s Leslye Headland in the director’s chair, we can expect this thing not to suck too much.

Take some time today to return to 1988. Watch Heathers.

I hope they are Not gonna cast so that they can be so PC!! ;)
Can’t you just cast similar girls to the Original Film….just update their looks! But, come on….don’t try so hard to be PC and different!
