Sitting on unreleased music is an art reserved only for the most talented of musicians. Released unreleased music is an art reserved only for those that have the money to make deals lucrative enough to snatch such music out of the cold, dead hands of the most talented musicians.
Prince is dead. He has all this unreleased music. What the f**k are we going to do with all of it? Jay Z has swept in with a $40 million offer, likely to make the music a Tidal exclusive, likely to make up the Tidal deficit, more likely to be used as samples for whenever Jay Z decides to start rapping again, but not so fast Prince fans (this is my largest target audience yet, who isn’t a Prince fan) according to TMZ:
Tyka may be Prince’s only full sibling, but she has to get sign-off from all the brothers and sisters, in addition to the trust that is managing the estate.
So until it’s been revealed whether or not Tyka, Prince’s sister, is poised to make some real money… there will be no new Prince musaq. Actual Prince representatives have denied that Jay Z has made any offer to them.
