Beyonce Gone Country: Beyonce and Dixie Chicks Rock It at the CMAs

You know what’s really awesome? When two genres of music collide on stage and it works out epically. At the CMAs on Wednesday night, The Dixie Chicks, regular queens of country and bluegrass, rocked it out with none other than Beyonce Knowles. Sounds like a weird combination right? But it was so good! There’s something really cool about getting the stomping beats of pop on the sound of acoustic guitars and fiddles (and saxophones). And the Chicks are actually big fans of Beyonce, having done a cover of “Daddy Lessons” from Beyonce’s album “Lemonade” while they were on tour.

And hey, Beyonce and Dixie Chicks singer Natalie Maines are both from Texas, so obviously they had to give a big shout-out to the Lone Star State. Now I’m not the biggest fan of country music, but I have always had a soft spot for The Dixie Chicks and the way they saw at the fiddle with so much energy. And combining that with Beyonce’s epic pop beats makes for a pretty thumpin’ good time.
