Lena Dunham Sorry for Abortion ‘Joke’

With every misspoken phrase from a celebrity, we all wait with baited breath for their obligatory apology. Well, Lena Dunham wasted no time on hers.

After getting flack for saying “I never had an abortion, but I wish I had,” on her podcast, Lena expressed herself on Instagram.

Dunham said she wanted to bring more light to the difficult topic of abortion and was proud to have a variety of voice speak on the topic. Her tasteless comment? It was just a joke.

“My words were spoken from a sort of “delusional girl” persona I often inhabit, a girl who careens between wisdom and ignorance (that’s what my TV show is too) and it didn’t translate. That’s my fault.”

Lena’s apology does seem sincere. Hopefully she can put her “delusional girl” persona aside every once in awhile and just act like the empathetic feminist she claims to be.
