Dave Chappelle Shows Up at Local Town Hall Meeting

Dave Chappelle showed up at a local town hall meeting in Yellow Springs, Ohio for an impromptu stand-up show.

It wasn’t very funny.

On second watch, maybe it wasn’t a stand-up show.

Nope. I’m pretty sure Chappelle was just trying to get involved with his local government, which he should be applauded for. He spoke out about a “huge gaffe” on New Year’s Eve where two people were tazed by police and told stories about growing up and knowing the officers, which seems to be an alien concept in the town now. In fact, Chappelle said, “We’re being policed by what feels like an alien force.”

“The council has a tremendous opportunity to be like a leader in progressive law enforcement,” he asserted. “I would beseech the council to look deeply and to look hard, because…this is a golden opportunity,” adding, “In this Trump era, this is an opportunity to show everybody that local politics reign supreme.”

Good on Chappelle for standing up and supporting local politics in hopes of creating some kind of change. A lot of celebrities speak out about Trump, but how many are going around and trying to make some kind of difference right there where they live? Not much is going to change at the top, but if you can make some changes for the better in your own backyard, that’s a step in the right direction.

Now, if we could just make Chappelle president.
