Get Out writer-director Jordan Peele is making fucking moves. He’s teaming up with J.J. Abrams‘ Bad Robot productions company and Warner Bros Television on Lovecraft Country, an hour-long drama series that will be on HBO. Peele is producing and Misha Greene will be the showrunner.
Of course, the show sounds fucking good as hell and also totally insane. It takes the classic “Dude looking for his lost dad” trope and mixes it in horrifying Lovecraftian monsters and the horrifying racist monsters of 1950s Jim Crow America. It’s based on a book, which blew the people involved away. According to Deadline, Green said:
“When I first read Lovecraft Country I knew it had the potential to be unlike anything else on television. Jordan, JJ, Bad Robot, Warner Bros and HBO are all in the business of pushing the limits when it comes to storytelling, and I am beyond thrilled to be working with them on this project.”
