Adele Retires From Touring

Get in, get rich, get out. Like Conor McGregor says. That’s what Adele’s done.

She’s currently performing a four night stand at Wembley Stadium in London, England. This first night brought out a record-breaking 98,000 fans. Tucked inside the program was a farewell note. What’s the sound of 98,000 people crying.

Adele, 29, wrote:

Touring is a peculiar thing, it doesn’t suit me particularly well. I’m a real homebody and I get so much joy in the small things. Plus I’m dramatic and have a terrible history of touring.

She also added:

And I wanted my final shows to be in London because I don’t know if I’ll ever tour again and so I want my last time to be at home.

Booooo.

The full note, and text, is below.

“So this is it after 15 months on the road and 18 months of 25 we are at the end. We have taken this tour across uk+ Ireland, throughout Europe, all over America and I finally got to go to Australia and New Zealand too. Touring is a peculiar thing, it doesn’t suit me particularly well. I’m a real homebody and I get so much joy in the small things. Plus I’m dramatic and have a terrible history of touring. Until now that is! I’ve done 119 shows and these last 4 will take me up to 123, it has been hard out an absolute thrill and pleasure to have done. I only ever did this tour for you and to hopefully have an impact on you the way that some of my favourite artist have had on me live. And I wanted my final shows to be in London because I don’t know if I’ll ever tour again and so I want my last time to be at home. Thank you for coming, for all of your ridiculous love and kindness. I will remember all of this for the rest of my life. Love you. Goodnight for now” ❤️Adele

The singer brought us three classic albums, 19, 21 and 25. She also has so many hit songs: “Hello,” “Someone Like You,” “Rolling in the Deep,” “Set Fire to the Rain” and a bunch of others. On top of that, she’s won 15 Grammys.

But, she definitely suffers from stage fright, so getting onstage can be quite the ordeal. She’s previously talked about touring and it doesn’t sound fun for her:

‘I get so nervous with live performances that I’m too frightened to try anything new,’ she explained.

‘It’s actually getting worse. Or it’s just not getting better, so I feel like it’s getting worse, because it should’ve gotten better by now.’

This sounds like you and your dates.

Plus, it’s not just touring. She’s got a 4-year-old son, Angelo James Konecki, whom she no doubts wants to see more. Also, she’s away from husband Simon Konecki.

“I miss my man. He’s not here yet. I can’t even find time to FaceTime him because when I wake up he’s going to sleep and when I’m going to sleep he’s going to work.”

Touring won’t stop her from releasing music though. During the concert, she promised:

“I will always write music and I will always put it out. And I hope that you’re always here.

“I might never see you again at a live show. Who knows. But I will remember this for the rest of my life.”

Promoters everywhere just saw one of their cash cows wander into the sunset.

Go remember Adele with this montage from her first night.

Rest in peace, Touring Adele.
