I was wrong. Conor McGregor vs. Floyd Maywather is happening. It’ll take place on August 26 in Las Vegas. I never expected the deal to get done and I thought we’d all wasted the last year talking about it. But, somehow, someway, it got done. Credit to all parties involved.

As you can see from the tweet above, Conor is already in troll mode. Don’t expect Floyd to sit back while Conor throws his verbal jabs. The build-up to this bout will be extraordinary as both men are charismatic and outspoken. It’s going to draw at least 3 million pay-per-view buys. But will it be competitive? I have my doubts. Money is currently rolling for McGregor, but that’s because he was such a heavy underdog that people felt the risk was worth it. As the fight gets closed, Mayweather should be a huge favorite.
When something like this gets announced, Twitter just has to weigh in.
For everyone slating Mayweather and McGregor! You know your gonna pay for it and you know your going to enjoy it so just have a day off eh 😏

The last tweet is my favorite. There’s actually a stipulation in the contract that says “Conor can’t do MMA stuff in a boxing fight.” Conor didn’t get to where he’s at by being dumb. He was never going to throw a kick or go for a takedown. But I like that Floyd thought enough of it that he made sure to put it in the contract.
The fight is over two months away, so get ready for an endless amount of talk about it before the inevitable disappointment.
