A Jersey Shore Reunion Is Coming

The first time I heard about Jersey Shore was on Late Night with Conan O’Brien. His third guests of the evening were Snooki and The Situation. I swear to god that until they sat down on the couch, I thought Snooki and The Situation was the name of a band. It wasn’t until after the show finished that I realized they’re just horrible, self-obsessed idiots. I now envy the me that I was during the first 45 minutes of that show.

Well, those idiots are apparently coming back to television because they were filming on the Jersey Shore this past weekend. It isn’t just Snooki and The Situation, but the whole gang: Jenni “J-Woww” Farley, the other one, my man, Spray Tan and whatshisname, all your favorites.

Jersey Shore is still the highest rated show to have ever aired on MTV, so good on whoever came up with the concept of “The Real World but with even less likable cast members.” In spite of that, however, MTV and the original production company, 495 Productions, don’t seem to be involved in this reunion special, which was granted filming permits under the title Roadtrip Reunion.

Local restaurant the Langosta Lounge refused to allow the production to film inside its premises, although I can’t imagine why they’d object. Aside from this minor setback, things seemed to go well for the cast, who have all been posting about the project all across social media. Pauly D even proved he has a sense of humor by sharing a picture of the cast with Chris Christie photoshopped in.

There’s no word yet on where and when this reunion special will strike, but if we’re all prepared we can get through this together. If New Jersey can survive Hurricane Irene, Chris Christie and generally being New Jersey, it can survive this.
