Taylor Swift Wins Groping Lawsuit

Good for Taylor.

Swift won her ass-grabbing lawsuit against former Denver KYGO DJ David Mueller today. Mueller grabbed Swift’s butt during a photo session in 2013. He then sued in 2015, accusing Swift of getting him fired over the incident. Swift countersued Mueller for assault and battery.

She wins a total of $1 when she could’ve won more. However, that $1 amount was Swift’s request and more a symbolic gesture “immeasurable to all women” that any victim can come forward without fear. Also, Swift didn’t want to bankrupt Mueller when she totally could.

This Mueller dude is pretty slimy. Swift testified he had a “long grab” and a “handful of ass.”

“He stayed latched on to my bare ass cheek… I felt him grab onto my ass cheek underneath my skirt. The first couple of milliseconds I thought it must be a mistake, so I moved to the side very quickly so that his side would be removed from my ass cheek, but it didn’t let go,” she further testified.

As the line of questioning continued, Swift further clarified where Mueller’s hand allegedly was. “Rather than grabbing my ass outside of my clothing, he grabbed my ass underneath my clothing,” she said on the stand. “He was busy grabbing my ass underneath my skirt, so he didn’t grab it outside of my skirt.”

Also, Mueller “spilled” his coffee on some evidence, which Swift’s lawyer, Douglas Baldridge, helpfully pointed out.

Mr. Baldridge also noted that Mr. Mueller acknowledged having spilled coffee on a computer on which he had stored a secret recording of a conversation with his employers about Ms. Swift’s allegations, destroying the evidence.

After the victory, Baldridge answered questions outside the courthouse, and also said “I think it’s a new day, because someone with the guts and the courage to stand up with absolutely no upside in doing so—that being Taylor Swift—has told everyone, ‘This is it, the line’s drawn.’”

I guess it took the courts to point out what everyone should already know: enjoy Swift’s music all you want, but don’t grab her ass.
