Tyrese Gibson In Custody Battle and ‘Fast & Furious’ Family Can’t Save Him This Time

Tyrese Gibson may want to spend less time posting angry social media comments about The Rock and more time worrying about what’s going on in his personal life. Because things aren’t going so well for him right now.

He’s currently in a custody battle with his ex-wife Norma and things took an ugly turn this week. According to TMZ, L.A. County Department of Children and Family Services is investigating the actor over claims that he beat his 10-year-old daughter Shayla so much that she couldn’t sit. Norma claims that Tyrese beat her between 12 and 16 times.

Not only is Norma seeking a restraining order that would prevent Tyrese from disciplining his daughter, she’s also seeking full custody of Shayla.

In light of these allegations, Tyrese took to Instagram to clear his name with the public.

In both captions, Tyrese directly addresses the claims and the custody battle.

This reminds me of a bit Chris Rock did when speaking about his own custody battle. He joked that parents should take as many pictures as they can with them doing nice things for/with their children, because the evidence you don’t have will hurt you more than the evidence you do. Tyrese posting these pictures and attempting to clear his name with long captions may just be public posturing, but in a battle that’s now public, it’s almost necessary.

And while Gibson’s posts directed at The Rock over the delaying of the next Fast & Furious movie may not seem like much, you can bet that Norma uses them against Tyrese to show a history of ill-temperament.

This battle is already ugly and it’s only going to get worse.

For the sake of the child, I hope the allegations against Tyrese are false and that she can live a semi-normal life despite being in the middle of public battle between her parents.
