Harvey Weinstein Out at The Weinstein Company After Sexual Harassment Allegations

Legendary movie producer Harvey Weinstein, who kind of looks like what Jeff Bridges would look like after a three-decade boxing career, has been hammered with allegations of sexual misconduct stretching back almost over his entire career.

According to an in-depth report by The New York Times, Weinstein used his position as the head of Miramax, and later The Weinstein Company, to sexually harass and abuse his employees. Because Weinstein is one of the most successful movie producers of all-time, a lot of his employees are pretty famous but were still afraid to speak out because of how powerful Weinstein is.

In light of the allegations, The Weinstein Company’s board of directors, including Harvey’s brother Bob, fired him on Sunday night.

Hollywood seems shaken by the revelations, and there’s an air of everyone being at each other’s throats. Rose McGowan, one of Weinstein’s alleged victims, has been particularly outspoken in calling for the entire board of The Weinstein Company to resign, claiming they were all complicit, even attacking Kevin Smith after the director released a statement sympathizing with the victims.

There’s a “who knew” witch hunt brewing, with some people claiming Meryl Streep knew about Weinstein’s behavior, and Matt Damon and Russell Crowe have also been implicated as helping to hide Weinstein’s behavior.

But no one has been more gleeful about this than Republicans, who are busy trying to find some sort of guilt-by-association with Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama, as Weinstein was a large donor to the Democratic Party.

These are people who supported Donald “Grab ‘Em By The Pussy” Trump for president, and are now very concerned about sexual harassment and sexual assault when a Democrat does it.

This is just the beginning of this story, more allegations are bound to surface and with them, more fighting and finger-pointing. And even for someone as powerful as Harvey Weinstein, this isn’t a thing you come back from. Weinstein might be very good at getting movies made, but abusing your position like this is exactly the sort of thing that should result in you not working in this field again. Weinstein is rich, he’ll be fine. And Hollywood will be just a little bit better for women without him in it.
