Morning News Tries #OneChipChallenge, It Goes Pretty Well

The Carolina Reaper #OneChipChallenge from Paqui, creator of the death chip claimed its latest victim on a morning news show yesterday. What is the #OneChipChallenge, you ask? All you have to do is survive eating just one chip made with one of the hottest peppers on the planet.

Five anchors attempted the challenge. They all survived. Except one. Well, she technically survived, but she might as well have died. When Natalie Tysdal took a bite of just half of her chip, it took seconds for the heat to kick in. Without the foresight to try it with a gallon of milk or ice cream like any sane person would, she went straight for the closest liquid she could find. A cup of coffee.

Turns out that was a terrible idea because she hid under the news desk and yakked all over the floor like a freshmen at their first party.

Natalie explained on her Facebook:

So, what really happened on TV this morning with the “one chip challenge?” I thought I was okay until I had a drink of my coffee to wash down the chip. I threw up, couldn’t breathe and felt like fire was coming out of my mouth, nose and ears. I had a bottle of water, a glass of milk, a tablespoon of honey and 3 mints and still felt on fire. An hour later I had chills and a massive headache. Three hours have gone by and I feel like I was beat up in a dark alley. Oh, and did I mention I shared the chip with my producer Scott Elliott? CRAZY! I wouldn’t recommend it.

Pour out a glass of milk for Natalie Tysdal’s butthole. That thing is going to be on fire.
