It Took a Judge to Determine That Dr. Dre Is, in Fact, Not a Real Doctor

Dr. Dre thinks he’s a real doctor because he delivered and revived multiple rap careers.

He is not a real doctor.

A court ruled as such on Wednesday as Dre battled Dr. Drai, an actual doctor, over a trademark filing. Draion M. Burch aka Dr. Drai looked to copyright the name “Dr. Drai” and embark on a world speaking tour with special guest hologram Doc Pac. Andre R. Young aka Dr. Dre argued that there would be confusion over the name.

A judge ruled in favor of Dr. Drai because no one is confusing “20 Things You May Not Know About A Vagina” (that’s a real book written by Burch. It’s about the female vagina and things you may not know) with “Nuthin But A G Thang” (that’s a song written by Young. It’s not about a woman’s G spot.)

Burch won the motion after arguing that Dre “is not a medical doctor nor is he qualified to provide any type of medical services or sell products specifically in the medical or healthcare industry.” Yeah, but when your album sales ain’t doing too good, who’s the doctor they tell you to go see?

Burch commands up to $5,000 for a speaking fee and plans to sell audio books under the nickname. Young has his own headphones and still has Eminem checks he hasn’t opened yet.

Something tells me both doctors will be just fine.
