No Winners in Pewdiepie vs Some Twitch Thot Fued

If you don’t know who Pewdiepie is, he’s sort of like a more popular, less irritating version of Jake Paul. Millions of people watch him be a dumbass on YouTube, and while Pewdiepie, whose real name is Felix Kjellberg, is a lot less of a dumbass than Jake Paul, he’s still a pretty major dumbass. It wasn’t even a year ago he was in the headlines for saying the n-word while streaming a video game, just like Ninja did right after setting his Twitch record with Drake.

Recently, Felix did a video using eye-tracking software and his fans suggested a video of female Twitch streamers getting as naked as they possibly can without breaking Twitch’s terms of service. One of the women in the video, Alinity Divine, reacted to Pewdiepie’s video on her stream by freaking out when he turned the video off saying he wasn’t going to let the “stupid Twitch thots” win. She got really mad about him saying ‘thot’ and got up and ran into another room yelling “Copy strike Pewdiepie’s newest video right now!”

Turns out people aren’t happy about someone abusing YouTube’s copyright system to steal revenue from fair use of content (she was literally on-screen for two seconds in Felix’s video) because they don’t like something they said about it. Pewdiepie did a video about the whole situation after the fact, after she had taken the revenue from his original video.

Yeah, she explained on her stream how she uses a partner company, CollabDRM, to issue copyright claims against videos that are critical of her content or say mean things, then when it blew up in her face because Pewdiepie has like 60 million subscribers to his YouTube channel, she claimed she didn’t do anything and CollabDRM made its copyright claim against Pewdiepie’s channel without her knowledge and she would never use copyright law on transformative videos even though she literally said she makes $700 a month doing exactly that and was going to do it to Felix’s video to teach him a lesson about calling her a thot.

I don’t know where anyone would get the idea that she’s a thot, honestly. The nerve of some people.

I honestly hate everyone involved in this story, including Google. YouTube drama is one of the least-interesting things in the world. It’s like watching a bad reality TV show except you have to flip between 100 different channels to see it and in the end, if I’m going to spend my time watching thots get mad about stupid bullshit, I may as well be watching Keeping Up With The Kardashians.

Seriously, anytime there’s YouTube drama, all the biggest YouTubers weigh in on it.

I could find probably a thousand more videos on this subject, and I would have time to watch them all waiting for JonTron to make a new video, which is a shame because his content is actually good. I’ll give you my opinion on this in text that you can read in 20 seconds, to save you having to watch me do 30 act-outs and vamp until I hit 10 minutes because you get less advertiser revenue if your video is shorter than that. And you can’t send me a copyright strike if you don’t like it, unless you’re Danny Masterson.

Pewdiepie is annoying and I don’t understand why anyone likes him. Thot is a decent description of Alinity. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with that. As I’ve said many times in the past, I don’t understand the concept of slut-shaming, no one ever bought a ticket to see someone play the piano for the first time. YouTube’s copyright system is a mess because YouTube doesn’t care about content creators, even huge ones like Pewdiepie, they only care about keeping advertisers happy and testing algorithms they can license for way more money than they make from advertising anyway. Google clearly has no interest in protecting free speech, they will side with literally any corporate interest over even their largest content creators.
