Shawn Mendes appeared on James Corden’s Carpool Karaoke because that’s what all the cool kids are doing these days. These things are no fun with real singers. “Watch these great singers, sing songs by other artists!” Give me bad celebrity singers embarrassing themselves.

To get to the real story, you’ll need to skip to 1:45. The two are discussing laundry when Corden reveals that Justin Bieber wears a new pair of unederwear every day. Corden believes that Bieber sells the old pair online. Unprompted, Mendes says, “I’d buy them.”

Now, in fairness to Mendes, he did give himself a $500 limit on Bieber underwear spending. And he would only buy the ones that Bieber wore while playing hockey. For $500, they better be the underwear he wore on a date with Selena Gomez.

Both Mendes and Bieber are Canadian, so maybe this is an inside joke between two Canadian friends. Or maybe Mendes is a bit of a creeper who wants to spend his allowance on sweaty underwear in order to complete his Bieber shrine. We all have our thing.
