Dave Bautista Could Quit ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ Over James Gunn

Marvel

By the outpouring of support for James Gunn over his firing from Disney, it’s clear that people are tired about how triggered society has gotten now that even a few jokes that someone already apologized for can torpedo their career. The entire cast of Guardians of the Galaxy voiced their support for Gunn with Dave Bautista going one step further.

Speaking to the Shortlist, Bautista said he’d quit if Gunn’s script for Volume 3 isn’t used.

“Nobody’s defending his tweets, but this was a smear campaign on a good man,” he said, speaking to ShortList’s Tom Ellen. “I spoke to Chris Pratt the day after it happened and he’s a bit religious so he wanted time to pray and figure it out, but I was more like: f*ck this. This is bullshit. James is one of the kindest, most decent people I’ve met.”

“Where I’m at right now is that if [Marvel] don’t use that script, then I’m going to ask them to release me from my contract, cut me out or recast me.

“I’d be doing James a disservice if I didn’t.”

Bautista clarified in a tweet.

This is bad news for Disney because they won’t be able to find any other buff dudes to stand incredibly still or move extremely slow.
