Selma Blair, who is perhaps most famous for her role as Cecile in Cruel Intentions, announced on Instagram that she has been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, a disease that causes the body’s immune system to attack the central nervous system.
The actress had this to say about her disease.
I am disabled. I fall sometimes. I drop things. My memory is foggy. And my left side is asking for directions from a broken gps. But we are doing it . And I laugh and I don’t know exactly what I will do precisely but I will do my best.
She went to say that though she was just diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in August, she’s probably been living with it for years and thanks actress Elizabeth Berkley and her brother, Dr. Jason Berkley, the physician who made the diagnosis. Hopefully, now that Blair has been diagnosed she can manage the disease and have a long and productive life.
Blair revealed the news while showing off one of the costumes she’ll be wearing in her upcoming Netflix series, Another Life. What she didn’t mention is she’s also in Heathers, which you can catch being burned off in heavily edited form on Paramount Network later this week. I wouldn’t mention that either if I was her. She has enough going on without people finding out she was in it.
