Todd Latourette, best known as “war veteran” in season 4, episode 5 of Better Call Saul, went so method that he cut off his right arm with a Skil saw and cauterized the stump 17 years ago during a psychotic episode so he could get bit parts as “war veteran” in TV shows. Surprisingly, his plan was crazy enough that it worked.
Unfortunately Latourette is back on his meds and wants to come clean because he can’t take the guilt anymore.
“I was dishonorable. I’m killing my career by doing this, if anyone thinks this was for personal edification, that’s not the case,” says Latourette. “I’m ousting myself from the New Mexico Film Industry. And gladly so, just to say what I’ve said.”
He’s not looking for forgiveness but hopes his story can help those struggling with mental illness. And possibly a few struggling actors with easy access to Skil saws.
