Idris Elba May Not Be James Bond, But He Is ‘People’s’ Sexiest Man Alive

People announced their Sexiest Man Alive, and it’s the long-rumored next James Bond Idris Elba.

That is miles better than last year’s recipient, Blake Shelton. It does make me wonder why the sexiest man alive is always so old, though. Idris Elba is 46. I know, I know, he’s daddy. And he is a sexy guy. I don’t know who the sexiest woman alive is, but I’m leaning towards a six foot tall blonde 19-year-old. Also my pick for world’s sexiest man, not coincidentally.

So what did Elba think when he first heard about his latest title? “I was like, ‘Come on, no way. Really?’” the actor tells PEOPLE in this week’s cover story. “Looked in the mirror, I checked myself out. I was like, ‘Yeah, you are kind of sexy today.’ But to be honest, it was just a nice feeling. It was a nice surprise — an ego boost for sure.”

Yeah, okay, I get it. And it’s nice to know that no matter how much things change in this world, women in their twenties will still want to have sex with men in their forties. It works for Leonardo DiCaprio, it works for Idris Elba (his fiancee is 29) and by God you can make it work for you with a bespoke suit and calling every girl at the college bar “princess” until one of the responds positively.
