Tiny Manlet Tom Cruise to Be Replaced as Jack Reacher by Actor Over Five Feet Tall

When Tom Cruise was cast as Jack Reacher in the film of the same name, people familiar with the character thought it was a bit of a stretch. Reacher was described in the novels the film series is based on as being 6’5″, and they don’t make trenches for leading ladies to walk in deep enough for Tom Cruise to look even close to 6’5″.

Now that the Jack Reacher property is being re-imagined as a TV series, Tom Cruise is out in favor of actor that doesn’t need the Church of Scientology to audition girlfriends to take things from the top shelf for him.

Here’s what Jack Reacher author Lee Child told the BBC about the matter.

“I really enjoyed working with Cruise. He’s a really, really nice guy. We had a lot of fun,” Child told the station.

“But ultimately the readers are right. The size of Reacher is really, really important and it’s a big component of who he is.

“The idea is that when Reacher walks into a room, you’re all a little nervous just for that first minute. And Cruise, for all his talent, didn’t have that physicality.”

I’ll bet the other qualities they’re looking for in a new Jack Reacher include “Doesn’t want to create an entire TV network to just him getting a fake award 24 hours a day” and “isn’t in love with David Miscavige.” So that rules out John Travolta, too.
