Meghan Markle is Hating the Royal Life

I’ve been having some mixed feelings when it comes to Meghan Markle. I was all for her in the beginning when she was first engaged to Prince Harry. She seemed like a breath of fresh air for the British monarchy as an American, a feminist, and a woman of color. Like a lot of people, I thought she would bring a unique perspective to the traditional and conservative monarchy.

But lately, there’s been a lot of, well….less than favorable press about Meghan, so it’s hard to say what the real story is right now. Ultimately though, it’s hard not to feel sorry for her.

The current report is that Meghan Markle has been “miserable” in her current role. A source said:

“Meghan has so much on her plate, between being pregnant and dealing with the public backlash and she’s finding the whole situation incredibly stressful.”

Of course, this is all speculation on the part of the press. But really, who could blame her? Despite being married to a prince, having a royal title, attending elegant affairs, and access to all the designer clothing and jewelry she could want, Meghan’s life has been far from a fairy tale.

Even after her wedding, she’s still having to deal with the nasty interviews being given by her trashy, fame-hungry family members, which she’s powerless to stop. Her every move is constantly scrutinized and reported on by the media, far more so now than when she was a Hollywood actress. She clearly was looking to modernize the monarchy, but her ideas are usually rejected by the palace. And on top of that, she’s pregnant. Yeah, I can safely say that I don’t envy Meghan’s position, tiaras or not.

All I can say is that if Markle is looking to make fundamental changes to the monarchy, yeah…that’s not gonna happen any time soon. Queen Elizabeth can be persuaded in some small areas such as not making her grandchildren marry their third cousins (and keeping the monarchy in the family), but she’s not going to suddenly get wild and crazy by letting the ladies go without pantyhose. Markle’s probably going to have to wait several years before she might even sniff changes.

But cheer up, Meghan. At least you know you won’t be pregnant forever. And as for the horror show family members, well, is there a chance you might have some connections as royalty? Someone who could do a quick job and clean up afterward? Maybe?
