Nick Cannon Serious Shades Travis Scott and His Relationship with Kylie Jenner

Well, we know that as much as Kylie Jenner loves him, Travis Scott definitely does not have a fan in Nick Cannon.

Travis Scott recently accepted a pretty big gig playing the Super Bowl halftime show. And Nick Cannon evidently does not approve. Primarily, it seems because of the NFL’s dispute with Colin Kaepernick. Apparently, Cannon considers the Super Bowl and a relationship with Kylie Jenner as seemingly detrimental to black culture. In a recent interview, Cannon said:

I’m team Kaepernick all day. I call it cultural equity. We not mad at Big Boi… he’s for the people. But someone like a Travis Scott, he gotta walk more gingerly. It’s more about truly having integrity. To who you are in your music, and your art form. The people you choose to interact with. The people you choose to procreate with… That decision wasn’t for the culture.”

I’m not very familiar with Big Boi, and I’m definitely not sure what Cannon thinks the difference is between him and Travis Scott when it comes to the Super Bowl show.

I can sort of understand where Cannon is coming from in his desire to show support for Kaepernick. Even if you disagree with him, there’s at least some logic there. But I don’t get where he gets off in criticizing Scott’s relationship and child. Is it because Kylie Jenner isn’t black? Then Cannon really shouldn’t be one to talk since he was once married to (and procreated with) Mariah Carey who is bi-racial.

And most would argue that a relationship with Kylie Jenner has been the best thing that Scott could have done for his career. Jenner is by far the more famous and lucrative partner in this relationship. I very much doubt that Scott would have gotten the Super Bowl gig if he wasn’t dating Jenner. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t doubt his love for Jenner and their child, but a part of him definitely knew he would get a serious career boost from being in a relationship with her.
