There’s Going to Be Yet Another ‘Ghostbusters’ Movie

Ghostbusters / Columbia Pictures

You know what the world really didn’t need? Another Ghostbusters film. They made one, it came out in 1989 and it was terrible. Then they made another one in 2016 and somehow it was even worse. And now they’re going to do it again. Yes, Entertainment Weekly reported that there’s a new Ghostbusters film in the works, to be directed by Jason Reitman, son of Ivan Reitman, the director of the good Ghostbusters, but also one of the bad ones.

We really know nothing else about it, other than it will ignore Paul Feig’s cinematic abortion and potentially Ghostbusters II as well.

“This is very early, and I want the film to unwrap like a present. We have a lot of wonderful surprises and new characters for the audience to meet,” says Reitman, who co-wrote the screenplay with Monster House and Poltergeist remake filmmaker Gil Kenan.

The one question I want the answer to is “who actually asked for this?” Were you sitting around hoping there was another Ghostbusters movie? You know you can just watch Ghostbusters, right? I mean, I guess Dan Akroyd was, he’s been trying to get a third Ghostbusters made for 30 years now. But I think if Bill Murray would have dinner with him once in a while, that desire would pass.

This movie is going to be like hooking up with an ex. It seems like a great idea beforehand, but it just ends up being unfulfilling and messy and afterwards your wife is mad at you for dragging her along.

Now, Jason Reitman has done some great movies, like Juno and Up in the Air, so if anyone can do Ghostbusters justice, it’s him. Unfortunately, no one can do Ghostbusters justice and this movie is going to suck. Just probably not as bad as the 2016 one.
