Normally celebrity beefs on social media involve musicians, and most of the time those musicians are either rappers or Taylor Swift. I’m not entirely sure why this is, but my instinct is that rich while women are just as passive aggressive as all other white women so instead of calling each other cunts on Twitter they just say things like “wow, you look great, I wish I was brave enough to wear such a retro outfit” at brunch.
Not so for Debra Messing and Susan Sarandon, whose three-year-old beef was all over Twitter yesterday.
You might be asking what brought this on, and it’s entirely political. Susan Sarandon is very involved in left-wing politics, having been an active campaigner for Bernie Sanders’ 2016 presidential run and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s 2018 primary challenge, well Messing appears to be one of those anti-Trump Republicans who backed Hillary Clinton but loses her mind at the idea of slightly higher taxes on her millions.
Yes, Debra Messing thinks raising taxes on the rich is disgusting. So it’s no wonder she and Susan Sarandon don’t get along. Actually, here’s a tweet from last year illustrating the difference between them.
The latest incident started because Sarandon introduced Bernie Sanders at an event a few days ago and mentioned he had never been a Republican, which Messing and others took as a dig at Elizabeth Warren but could also have been aimed at Hillary Clinton.

Messing basically spent an entire day retweeting attacks on Sarandon for not supporting Hillary Clinton, in addition to making some interesting statements herself.
If you don’t know, the “children in cages” started under Obama in 2014.
Susan Sarandon spent the day fending off attacks from Messing as well as two prominent former Clinton staffers, one of whom now works for the Koch Brothers-aligned Center for American Progress.

There was even a thread about Messing’s theory that Sarandon, not Clinton’s disastrous campaign operation, caused Trump to win.

This feud isn’t likely to end anytime soon, especially not while Jell-o brained Joe Biden is sundowning his way to the top of polls of Democratic voters. Seriously listen to Joe Biden talk sometime, he has more dementia than Donald Trump, which is really saying something.
