There’s Going to Be a BTS TV Series, but BTS Won’t Be in It

Good news and bad news for fans of gorgeous Korean pop singers BTS: the band is getting its own TV series, but they won’t actually be in it, according to a story in Entertainment Weekly and a million screaming K-Pop fans on Twitter.

During a corporate briefing presentation in Seoul for the group’s label, Big Hit Entertainment, it was announced that the drama series would be about how the group came together with actors playing younger versions of all the boy band members.

For some reason, they’re referring to this as a “BTS Universe” TV series.

“Big Hit is currently preparing a drama series together with a leading Korean production company based on the Bangtan Universe, slated for release in the second half of 2020. It will be a story set in the BU about how the seven boys first met.”

I have no idea what this means. Are they fictional? Is this like the Marvel Universe but sexier?

I feel like this is totally going to be fictionalized. They met when they auditioned to be in a K-Pop band. It’s 100% manufactured. This is like making A Hard Day’s Night or Spice World, but without The Beatles or The Spice Girls.

It’s going to break viewership records, though. So many people are going to watch this, it’s going to crash Viki or Netflix or whatever it airs on.
