James Cameron had a Big F**k You For the The Hollywood Reporter 100

Every year The Hollywood Reporter makes a list of the 100 most powerful people in Hollywood. You’ve probably heard of 10-20 of them, because they’re mostly the CEOs of big media companies. Bob Iger topped the list because of course he did, Disney owns basically all of entertainment.

There’s definitely a lot of subjectivity here, too. Very few of the people on the list are talented, but Zendaya somehow made the list. Don’t get me wrong, she’s a great actress, but is she really one of the most powerful people in Hollywood? The only non-producing actors higher on the list than Zendaya were the world’s most successful stand-up comic Kevin Hart and fellow woman of color Scarlett Johansson.

Also, the Obamas got 50th despite the fact that they haven’t produced anything yet. Which is fair, Barack Obama also got a Nobel Peace Prize before he had done anything.

The really interesting thing, though, is what James Cameron said. Cameron famously doesn’t have time for typical Hollywood bullshit and it really comes through here.

IF YOU COULD CONTROL ONE PIECE OF IP, WHAT WOULD IT BE?

“I generate my own stuff, so I’m not really interested in IP.”

BEST OR WORST THING ABOUT HOLLYWOOD’S MERGER MANIA

“As long as people pay the bills and when I show up to work on a Monday morning, they haven’t closed down my production, I could give a s**t.”

LAST BIG SPLURGE

“Building a sub.”

YOU FIND BOB IGER’S IPHONE. WHICH CONTACT DO YOU CALL?

“I can call anybody I want. I don’t need Bob Iger’s cell phone.”

This, ladies and gentlemen, is why I do this job. You can almost hear the contempt on the page. But it’s really the kind of response these inane questions deserve.
