Were Those ‘Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker’ Leaks True? Find Out Here

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker has had its premier and is screening for critics, and that means we’ve finally found out whether or not those leaks we reported on before are true or not. God, I hope they aren’t, that sounded like an absolutely terrible movie, maybe even worse than The Last Jedi.

So do you want to find out?

Are you sure? Because there will be some pretty major spoilers after this.

Yes, almost all the leaks were true.

YouTuber Doomcock (and god do I love having a job talking about someone calling himself Doomcock) was right on the money with his leaks about Emperor Palpatine showing up and killing everyone but Rey, totally obliterating the ending of the original Star Wars trilogy and making Luke and Anakin Skywalker essentially side characters in the story of how Emperor Palpatine’s granddaughter killed him.

Also, you remember how J.J. Abrams hinted at LGBT representation in this movie? It’s apparently a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it moment lasting a second or two involving characters without names. I feel so represented.

Doomcock also reported (seriously, what is my life) that George Lucas got snubbed by Disney, who didn’t invite him to the premier of the film, despite the fact that he created Star Wars in the first place. Although I would honestly believe it if they said they didn’t invite him out of shame for what they’d done.

When I was in high school I stood in line for nine hours to see The Phantom Menace, and at the end of that I had to watch The Phantom Menace. But I’m not even going to bother seeing The Rise of Skywalker in theaters. If I’m going to be disappointed by Disney with something I’ve loved since I was a child, I’ll be disappointed in the comfort of my own home.

The early reviews of the film are pretty much all negative. There are no reviews up yet, so no Rotten Tomatoes score yet, but if what critics are tweeting now represents the general consensus on the film, it could end up being the worst-reviewed installment since The Phantom Menace.
