Don’t Sleep on These Primavera Sound Bands

Go beyond the big font bands at Primavera Sound and check out these bands lower on the bill.

Primavera Sound is taking place June 3rd through the 7th in Barcelona, Spain, which is reason enough to go. The festival is celebrating its 20th year. With a track record like that, it’s easy to get some big names into your lineup. This year’s no different.

The lineup is as eclectic as ever with a few huge names as well as some indie bands that people will come to love.

Tyler the Creator, Lana Del Rey, and The Strokes are the headliners and bands and names that people will recognize. While they all have bops, the real story is the bands with less name recognition. A younger crowd will wonder who Iggy Pop and Massive Attack are, while older music fans are just surprised that they are playing at the same venue. Hip hop fans will be excited to see Earl Sweatshirt and Young Thug on the docket, but wonder who the hell King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard are.

The most surprising name on the list is 100 gecs, which is a living, breathing meme. Also catch up and comers like King Princess and BROCKHAMPTON.

The full lineup is massive and can be seen on the official Primavera website.

I’m not much of a festival guy, but you can bet your ass that I would elbow my way through the sea of smelly people if I had the resources to make it to this festival. Barcelona is one of my favorite places in the world, and I can vibe with so many of these acts that I feel like it would be a five-day vacation to heaven. Though Primavera will likely be around for years to come, this lineup will never happen again, making this a truly once in a lifetime opportunity.
