Elon Musk Just Invented Space Slavery
Elon Musk is making plans to send 10,000 people to Mars, and he wants to make sure that anyone who wants to go can, even if they can’t afford it. His plan? Anyone who can’t afford a ticket can just be a slave.
Musk started rather innocuously by posting a picture of a space ship under construction on Twitter.

He followed up hours later by unveiling plans to build an entire fleet of ships to create a space colony in orbit around Mars.
Starship design goal is 3 flights/day avg rate, so ~1000 flights/year at >100 tons/flight, so every 10 ships yield 1 megaton per year to orbit

There’s an episode of The Big Bang Theory where Leonard’s high school bully Jimmy Speckerman comes to see him because he has an idea for an invention and he needs a scientist to see it through. His idea is glasses that make any movie or TV show 3D, and when asked how they work he says “I have no idea that’s why I need you guys.”
That’s Elon Musk. That’s what he does, that’s what he’s doing here. He doesn’t have a plan for this, he’s just throwing out ideas he’ll hand off to someone who will do that actual work.
Here comes the important part: someone asks Musk on what criteria people will be chosen to go to Mars.
Elon? on what criteria do you think the 100k people will be chosen? Will there be a lottery once all the essential positions are filled or will they all be hired based on skill sets?

Musk replies that there “Needs to be such that anyone can go if they want, with loans available for those who don’t have money.” Uh-hunh. Another Twitter user asks him if people will “Work off the loans?” and Musk responds “Yes. There will be a lot of jobs on Mars!”

Now, if this sounds familiar to you, it’s because you were paying attention in 7th grade history class. This is what was known as indentured servitude, it’s the kind of slavery that was legal to do to white people in the American colonies and it’s how lots of people got to America.
I really don’t think anyone is surprised by this. Musk claimed in this series of tweets that building this fleet of spaceships is why he’s accumulating wealth, but people who aren’t sociopaths don’t come up with space slavery as an answer for how to build their space colony.
Come on, this was literally an episode of Archer. I feel like I’m being punked. I guess you can take the rich white kid out of Apartheid South Africa but you can’t take Apartheid South Africa out of the rich white kid.
