DC May Be Bringing Henry Cavill Back as Superman After All

Batman V Superman / DC

I love Superman. He’s a great character and so many great stories have been told with him. I was not all that impressed with the recent DC movies featuring the character, though. I didn’t think Man of Steel quite understood the character and Batman vs Superman and Justice League were just bad movies. I did, however, like Henry Cavill’s performance as Superman.

We’re going to see more of that performance, as Deadline reports that contrary to what we all thought, Henry Cavill is not done playing the Last Son of Krypton.

We hear Cavill could come back in a couple of different ways, not a standalone film, but there are plans to put him back in the big red cape again sources with knowledge tell us.

Warner Bros. is not developing a Man of Steel sequel, and Wonder Woman 1984, Suicide Squad are in the can, and Superman isn’t expected to make a cameo in Matt Reeves’ The Batman. Other projects where Cavill could make a cameo are Shazam 2, Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam or Aquaman 2, which are the next productions to be prepped once COVID-19 safety restrictions lift.

Out of all of these, I hope Shazam 2 is the project he shows up in; Superman and Captain Marvel have a lot in common as characters and  there have been some great stories involving both of them. Plus itks the movie most likely to not have Superman be dark and brooding and get his ass kicked by Batman which would never happen.

Seriously, Batman is cool is and all, but he’s just a guy who can do a lot of chin-ups while Superman is an alien demigod who can fly and things just by looking at them because he soaked up all those yellow sun rays.

DC also has the TV series Superman and Lois premiering on the CW in early 2021. That’s a spin-off of Supergirl starting Tyler Hoechlin and Elizabeth Tulloch who have both been absolutely nailing the title characters. Like, that’s probably better than anything they’re going to do in the movies.
