YouTube is Back in the PewDiePie Business, No Longer Bothered by Casual Racism

Before we get started on this story, I’d just like to mention that I am not a journalist, I’m an opinion writer and humorist. This is not the New York Times, this is a blog where we make fun of celebrities, but every time I mention PewDiePie the comment section is overrun by his fans complaining about my poor journalism, which, again, is not what’s going on here. I expect this piece to be even worse considering all the elementary schools are closed giving his fans way too much free time.

You may recall that desire PewDiePie being the biggest channel on YouTube, Google was very keen for a very long time to not associate their brand with him, thanks in large part to his repeated accidental racism, which is just the sort of small-mindedness you’d expect from a Swede. They’re practically Norwegian, you know.

YouTube has changed their mind, probably since ad revenue is down due to the coronavirus, and Variety reports they’ve signed their biggest star to an exclusive live-streaming contract.

“YouTube has been my home for over a decade now and live streaming on the platform feels like a natural fit as I continue to look for new ways to create content and interact with fans worldwide,” Kjellberg said in a statement. “Live-streaming is something I’m focusing a lot on in 2020 and beyond, so to be able to partner with YouTube and be at the forefront of new product features is special and exciting for the future.”

This is gonna be so lit for three weeks until he says the n-word and YouTube fires him!
