Carole Baskin’s week has taken a very bad turn for her. Things seemed pretty great when she won a court battle giving her control of Joe Exotic’s former zoo as payment for a million dollar lawsuit he had lost to her. Then the current owner, Jeff Lowe, revealed that he was going to absolutely trash the place on his way out and that it’s a Native American burial ground.
There was more bad news for Baskin as TMZ reports that the sheriff who is still investigating her husband’s disappearance declared that his will was a forgery.
Sheriff Chronister doesn’t even try to hedge — he says they had two experts take a look at it, and both concluded the same thing … it’s a fake. He also says that’s something his office already knew, going on to say his team was following up on some promising new leads.
Here’s why the will is so important … it has a bizarre clause that says in case of Don’s disappearance Carole gets everything. Talk to any estate planning expert and they will tell you … they’ve NEVER seen a clause like that — EVER.
That does seem like a strange clause to add to a will, and I’d like to add that I’m ever ground into a fine paste by angry hobos I leave all my possessions to Blemish Enterprise, Inc and…. hey, cut that out! Now I have to start taking the hobo-free route home from the office, that’s going to add an extra 20 minutes to my commute.
That does seem like a strange clause to add to a will, but since it’s already been accepted by the courts it’s too late to do anything about it.
Sheriff Chad Chronister also added that it’s unlikely anyone who may have killed Don Lewis and ground him up into hamburger to feed to rescue tigers probably won’t be brought to justice because too much time has passed. There’s no statute of limitations on tiger-fooding a guy, but leads go cold and evidence deteriorates over time and that makes cases harder to prove.
That said, if 80s horror movies taught me anything, it’s that serial killers love making puns and bad people tend to get punished on Native American burial grounds. And good people. And neutral people.
