Elliot Page is Back on the Market, Files for Divorce from Wife Emma Portner
Good news forehead fetishists, Elliot Page is about to be single again.
TMZ reports that Page filed for divorce from Emma Portner, his wife of about three years, in Manhattan.
The former couple issued a statement together saying “After much thought and careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision to divorce following our separation last summer. We have the utmost respect for each other and remain close friends.”
Page came out as transgender late last year and Portner issued a supportive statement, saying “I am so proud of Elliot Page. Trans, queer and non-binary people are a gift to this world. I also ask for patience & privacy but that you join me in the fervent support of trans life every single day. Elliot’s existence is a gift in and of itself. Shine on sweet E. Love you so much.”
Interestingly, people have flocked to a steamy series of pictures Portner posted nearly two years ago to post some borderline trolling in light of the divorce announcement.
Portner had captioned the post “love you forever,” to which users have recently replied with comments like “Or until Jan 26, 2021” and “This caption didn’t age well.”
Sometimes people love each other and still can’t make it work. It happens. Portner supported Page through a difficult time in his life and I’m sure they mean it when they say they remain close friends.
Rule of thumb rings true here: Don’t marry crazy. Poor Eliot. But maybe some Reese’s Pieces will cheer him up.
