Britney Spears’ Boyfriend Says Her Dad Jamie is a ‘Total Dick’

I think everyone looking in from the outside at Britney Spears’ conservatorship drama believes that she should be making her own decisions about her life and should not legally require her father’s permission.

Her boyfriend believes the same thing, as reported by TMZ.

Sam Asghari posted to his Instagram story that he has “zero respect” for Spears’ father, saying he’s “trying to control our relationship and constantly throwing obstacles in our way.” He also says he thinks “Jamie is a total dick” and that he tries not to speak out about it because he and Britney want their privacy.

A documentary called Framing Britney Spears aired on FX over the weekend and basically everyone in the world is invested in this and on Spears’ side now. CBS had a brief rundown of the support she’s been getting from other celebrities.

Comedian Fortune Feimster tweeted: “I watched the NYT doc on Britney Spears and it is SO messed up that they aren’t letting this very successful adult woman be in charge of her own life. She’s made it very clear she does not want her dad to have any part of her finances and life decisions. That should be enough.”

Talk show host Tamron Hall said “it’s an understatement” to call the documentary “heartbreaking.”

Miley Cyrus gave a shout-out to Spears during her post-Super Bowl performance, saying: “We love Britney.”

Other celebrities, including Andy Cohen, Sarah Jessica Parker, Meghan McCain and Bette Midler, shared their support by tweeting “Free Britney.”

As I’ve said in the past, Britney Spears is almost 40 and she doesn’t appear to be so mentally impaired that she needs a conservator. She hit a rough patch over a decade ago, and even then she was coherent enough to save How I Met Your Mother from cancellation in an episode with the ridiculous premise that there’s someone on the planet who finds Sarah Chalke more attractive than Britney Spears. I think she can handle making her own decisions. We let Donald Trump run a country for four years, we can let Britney Spears manage her own life and career.
