David Dobrik’s Vlog Squad Facing More Sexual Assault Allegations

David Dobrik was one of 2020’s highest-earning YouTubers, making a show that’s basically a way worse version of Curb Your Enthusiasm with a group of friends he calls The Vlog Squad.

2021 has not been a great year for him. A few weeks ago, a former member of the Vlog Squad, Joseth Francois, told Buzzfeed that a prank Dobrik played on him in a video constituted sexual assault.

In June 2017, Dobrik published a video titled “HE THOUGHT HE WAS KISSING HER!! (SUPER CRINGEY)” that’s now been watched almost 10 million times. In it, Dobrik says he’s going to pull a prank on Francois by making him believe he’s making out with another Vlog Squad member, Corinna, who was supposed to be wearing a disguise. In reality, he was making out with another member, Nash, who was the person in disguise.

He said the more he ruminated on it, the worse he felt. He then decided to call a sexual assault hotline and speak with someone about what happened.

“They said it directly to me. They said, ‘I’m sorry you were sexually assaulted.’ And I broke down,” Francois said. “I called my mother and some of my close friends and I said, ‘I can’t believe that happened to me.'”

He also claimed that he was made the butt of racist jokes because he was the only black member of the group.

And while I wouldn’t challenge his experiences or try to diminish his trauma, maybe that doesn’t sound like sexual assault to you or seems like it’s not such a big deal. Well, it’s not the only accusation of sexual assault being leveled at Dobrik’s group.

The Wrap reports that Dominykas Zeglaitis has been accused by an anonymous woman of getting her drunk and assaulting her while she was blacked out.
